What is the Army Cadet Program?

The Royal Canadian Army Cadets is a free youth program for ages 12–18 that focuses on leadership, citizenship, physical fitness, and outdoor adventure in a structured, team-based environment.

Is there a Cost?

No. The program is completely free:

All training activities included

No registration fees

Uniforms provided

Do Cadets have to join the military?

No. Cadets is not a recruiting program, and there is no obligation to join the Canadian Armed Forces.

What are the benefits of joining?

Cadets gain:

Who supervises cadets?

Cadets are supervised by:

  • Trained Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC) officers
  • Approved civilian volunteers
  • Senior cadets in leadership roles

All staff are screened and trained to work with youth.

When do cadets train?

Cadets typically train:

Some weekends for exercises and events

Tuesday evenings 6:30pm -9:15pm (parade night)

Thursday evenings 6:30pm -9:15pm (optional training)
